WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe the Bible is God's Word and our final authority for faith and life. As a Southern Baptist Church, committed to the Cooperative efforts of Southern Baptist missions around the world, we affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as a faithful summary of our biblical convictions.

THE BIBLE
The Bible is God's inspired Word, completely true and trustworthy, and our final authority for what we believe and how we live. GOD There is one true and living God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three Persons. One God. JESUS CHRIST Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He lived without sin, died on the cross for our sin, rose bodily from the grave, and will return in glory. |
SALVATION
Salvation is God's gift of grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Through Christ, sinners are forgiven, made new, and reconciled to God. THE CHURCH The church is a local body of baptized believers united in Christ to worship God, grow in His Word, care for one another, and carry out His mission. OUR MISSION Every believer is called to make disciples. We share the gospel and demonstrate the love of Christ in our community and throughout the world. |
OUR STORY
For more than a century, Sparr Baptist Church has been part of the North Marion Community. Established in 1905, generations of believers have gathered here to worship, learn God's Word, serve their neighbors, and pass the faith from one generation to the next.
Much has changed since those early days, but our calling has not changed. We remain committed to the truth of Scripture, to the hope of the gospel, and to the mission Jesus gave His church to make disciples.
Today, we are grateful for those who came before us, and we believe God is still writing the story of Sparr Baptist Church. We are a new people in an established place, and as we look toward the future, our desire is to be a church that equips believers, strengthens families, and serves our community, making Christ known at home and around the world.

OUR LEADERSHIP
OUR PASTOR
ALAN PERMENTER, Pastoral Elder
Alan has served as Pastor of Sparr Baptist Church since 2018. He is passionate about helping people read, understand, and obey God's Word, grow as disciples of Christ, and live out their faith at home, at work, and in the community.
Alan serves as a co-vocational pastor, combining his ministry at Sparr with a career in the healthcare industry. His experience both in the church and in the workplace strengthens his conviction that following Jesus is not limited to what happens on Sunday. Our faith shapes the way we live, work, lead, and serve throughout the week.
Alan earned his Master of Divinity in Preaching and Biblical Languages from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1992. His ministry has been shaped by a deep commitment to the authority of Scripture, biblical preaching, and equipping believers to know and follow Christ.
Alan and his wife, Karen, have been married for 33 years and have three children and two grandchildren. They ware grateful for their growing family and enjoy spending quality time with their children, their spouses (or spouses to be), and their grandchildren. Away from work, Alan enjoys reading, gardening, spending time with his family in whatever interests they have developed, and relaxing when possible with his dogs.
